I come from a small rural town and I spent a lot of my boyhood the country, one thing I've discovered about small towns is that each of them hold a secret...a scarcely known place; a place that is so cool and yet so unknown that even some of the residents living within the town itself do not even know about it. I would like to make it my mission to visit some of these "scarcely known places" and bring a little light to these hidden treasures.
For example, in and around my home town, I know of some really unique swimming holes, some very old arch-stone bridges, the location of the old train depot, the location of a failed railway, an old ghost town, a spot where Indians used to mine their flint, an old forgotten river dam located in the local river, one of the largest glacial erratic's in the state, a pasture where you can still see remnants of old wagon ruts, and an old flour mill that was long ago forgotten.
These are but some of the treasured locations that spring to mind as I sit here and type. Some of these are natural wonders and some are historical reminders, but all are located within a 20 mile radius of where I grew up. All across America and around the world there are many, many more places just like these. Places that have either been forgot are never brought to light. And with your help we can show the world these fantastic "Scarcely Known Places"!
Please contact me if you know of such places. Thank You!
